The church we know today as CityLife Church was planted in 1980 and began under the name of New Plymouth New Life Christian Fellowship. Its founding leadership had a strong emphasis on Biblical preaching/training to see people released into global mission. Central to God’s mission is a heart of worship, prophecy and prayer. All these remain as key pillars of the church.
Initially under the umbrella of ‘New Life’ churches, leadership transitioned in the mid 1980’s to join with the ‘South Pacific’ churches until the group disbanded in the mid 1990’s. Since then, we have been relating to the LinkNZ network of churches, who began as part of the International Salt and Light Ministries group.
Through changes of name and leadership, the heart of CityLife Church remains to see people equipped to go into the world, proclaim the good news of Jesus to see God’s kingdom increase on earth.
We seek to represent God well in words, action and lifestyle. Our highest call is to know God and receive His love. In so doing, we have something to give others and we mirror His heart; loving people as they are, and seeing them saved and set free.
